The name Michael Sheen was not one I’d heard before today. But it’s not a name I’ll be forgetting in a hurry, that’s for sure!
Michael Christopher Sheen is a Welsh actor. He’s been equally successful on stage, as he has been on the silver screen.
But it’s not his acting prowess that caught my attention.
No, sir.
The reason I’m hyped as hell and writing this post is because I just learned that this amazing man has cleared the debts of 900 people!
That’s right!
He used £100,000 from his own pocket to erase £1 million of debt owed by people in his community in Wales.
These debts were being re-packaged and sold for less, which is how £100,000 cleared £1,000,000’s worth.
And now, thanks to him, 900 people and their families will sleep better at night.
But this is not a one-off.
Sheen has been campaigning on behalf of people struggling with unfair debt since at least 2018 when he set up the ‘End High Cost Credit Alliance.’
And Michael is just getting started!
His upcoming documentary ‘Michael Sheen’s One Million Pound Giveaway‘, is due to air on Channel 4 on Monday 10th March 2025.
Through this documentary, Michael aims to draw attention to the difficulties faced by people from his home town in Wales, who are struggling with debt.

Michael even hopes to visit Westminster to speak with the chancellor, Rachel Reeves, as well as other members of Parliament.

I also hope that his noble actions will inspire more and more people with the ability and the influence to follow his lead.
