My inner demons aren’t really demons. They are simply stories that I have been telling myself over and over again. I chose to believe in them and so, they shaped and created my life. They became true for me.
The only power they have is the power that I have chosen to give them. Over time, and with repetition, I have fed and nourished these demons and made them strong.
But now, I can choose to take that power away from them and reclaim it for myself.
I can choose to tell a new story.
Telling A New Story
I can practice being more aware of my thoughts and words. I can learn to stop myself when I realise that I’m about to re-tell an old story; one that isn’t going to help me create the reality I would like to experience.
I can practice telling a new story instead.
And when I do, those demons will be gone and something else – something more empowering and life-affirming will take their place.
There is a good chance that what is true for me can also be true for you.
So maybe it’s time for you to start telling a new story too. Make it a good one, with a happy ending.
