Poetry

Poetry conveys feelings directly from my heart to yours. It’s sometimes raw and unpolished, and sometimes in the form of free verse. But one thing you can be sure of is that it’s always genuine and heartfelt!

  • Jaded

    Jaded

    Every moment, bursting with possibility,
    Each day, the chance to make our lives anew.

    To have or be anything,
    Our desires, to enjoy and do.

    But with the years we’ve become jaded;
    Life’s sparkle has all but faded.

    The hurts of the past lead us to mistrust;
    Our dreams and inspiration, to gather dust.

    But do we want to live our lives this way;
    Impoverished of spirit, with even more to pay?

    Or do we grasp each moment’s opportunity;
    Our chance to delight for an eternity?

    Born again to life’s unending joy;
    Like a cherub with her shiny new toy.

  • A Father’s Job

    A Father’s Job

    A father’s job is to praise his daughter; to place her on a pedestal and shower her with love.

    A father’s job is to tell his daughter each day how wonderful she is and how proud he is of her.

    A father’s job is to tell his daughter how much he loves her and how thankful he is to be her father.

    A father’s job is to support and encourage his daughter to be the person that she wants to be and to let her know that he will be there for her–no matter what.

    A father’s job is to help his daughter believe in herself; in her talents and abilities, and to help her bring her best and true most self out into the world.

    A father’s job is to love and respect the mother and to provide his daughter with a clear example of how a man should treat his partner.

    A father’s job is the mother’s job–it is the work of all parents.

    A father’s job is the most rewarding–the best job in the world!

  • Being Broken

    Being Broken

    Being broken is painful, but being broken is good;
    It cracks the shell that separates and keeps us blind to the truth

    Being broken leaves us bare and vulnerable – it dissolves false pride;
    It teaches us humility and compassion, and to see the other side

    Being broken binds us to others, and teaches all to nurture;
    For when they rush to comfort us, we’re shown true human nature

    Fear and separation fade away, and we learn that we are all one;
    Being broken does not break us at all, it makes us whole and done.
